Is that a Christmas tree? For a post in July? Why yes. Yes it is.

If the seering July heat is thoroughly baking you, you might be longing for a big fast-toward button that skips to the dead of winter. Unfortunately, this post doesn’t have one of those. Sorry.

However, if you want another reason to anticipate the changing of the seasons, look no further than Christian fantasy author Kaitlyn King’s upcoming novel—Battle for the Land of Sweets.

King has been featured on this blog a few times (here, here, and here) and never fails to deliver both thrilling and edifying stories. Her latest release is set to be another fantastical adventure, this time retelling the classic fairytale of the Nutcracker.

Blurb

Would you like a cozy Christmas read that combines The Chronicles of Narnia with the Nutcracker?

Hidden in the back of an old nutcracker and sweets shop is a door…behind it is a magical land full of chocolate rivers, sugar flowers, and candy cane trees. This Christmas, your favorite holiday fairytale comes to life!

When masked figures kidnap the eccentric owner of Drosselmeyer’s Christmas Emporium, three teenagers follow them through a mysterious back door into a land where fantasy becomes reality. Nutcracker soldiers, the Sugar Plum Fairy, and even Mother Ginger are there to help them on their journey. But where there are heroes, there are also villains. The mice aren’t just part of the fairytale; they’re real, and they’re tired of losing!

Can these adventurers save the Land of Sweets and make it back home before Christmas?

from Kaitlyn King

Kicking off the brand-new Christmas Chronicles series, Battle of the Land of Sweets will be releasing on October 17, 2023.

If you aren’t familiar with King’s books, know that you should have no worries about what you might find in this tale. She’s dedicated to writing clean fiction that legitimately helps the reader, not just provides a temporary escape.

Now, the moment you’ve been waiting for…the cover.

Timothy Benefield

Timothy Benefield is a writer by day—and a writer by night. Were he to describe himself, the first thing he would want you to know is that he is a Christian saved by the grace of God. This means he strives to glorify his Creator in all his stories, weaving tales that convict, challenge, and inspire, as well as entertain. If he has anything to say about it, he’ll become an indie published author who touches lives all over the world. On the occasion you don’t find him writing, he’ll be drawing maps to accompany his worlds, consuming a good book, or spelunking in the infinite cave of knowledge.

Ah man, you almost had my hopes up for a fast-forward button to cold weather XD. Anyway, great cover reveal, Timothy! I’m looking forward to reading this one too (October just can’t come fast enough…*sighs*).

Sorry to disappoint you. XD Unfortunately I have unlocked no such magic. And thanks!

Ah well. My parents said that they were promised flying cars back when they were kids (and such things haven’t happened either lol.) Guess we’ll have to wait a bit longer until someone perfects the technology for both XD.

That’s true. But, to be fair, there are actually flying cars now. So maybe the button isn’t too far around the corner.

Fair enough lol. Maybe there’s hope then, for that button!
