Note: This seems to be an older version of the cover. The copy I have is a different cover, but I’m unable to locate a picture of the new cover to use as a picture here.

And then Josiah saw the King. A tall, commanding figure arrayed in an elegant scarlet robe, the King had eyes that burned like fire, and his smile radiated love and concern. Josiah gazed in wonder at the King’s countenance. Never before had he seen such a king face.
Josiah stole a glance at Argamor, and and to his amazement, saw that the cruel backsmith and his two henchmen were trembling. Who is this King? Josiah wondered in astonishment. I wouldn’t have known that Argamor is afraid of anyone!
“I have come for the lad,” the King said quietly.

The Sword, The Ring, and The Parchment

The start of the Terrestria ChroniclesThe Sword, The Ring, and The Parchment is the tale of Josiah Everyman and his bondage to Argamor.

Plot

Josiah is in captivity to the evil lord Argamor, with no way to escape. Every attempt to free himself fails; it is only through the free gift of King Emmanuel that he might be free. He must decide whether to accept it, or be forever in service to Argamor.

This beginning to the series is a great resource to give to those who are unsaved. It gives the message of salvation very clear, and gives some comments on works salvation too.

Characters

Josiah is very relatable to everyone. He’s a common person with many faults and failures, which makes you happy when he succeeds.

Spiritual and Character Application

As I mentioned in the review of the series as a whole, this series has spiritual applications on every page. It is full of references to the Bible; King Emmanuel as, obviously, God, Argamor as Satan, as many others.

Overall Thoughts

A great start to a great series. My bookmark is in this series, and I’ll enjoy reading it again.
